At the mysterious 30 degrees of north latitude, southwest of China,there is a previously unknown civilization that has been sleeping underground for thousands of years.

In the 1980s, it caught the world’s attention with its great historical and scientific significance.

Located in Guanghan city of Southwest China’s Sichuan Province and covering an area of 12 square kilometers, Sanxingdui Site is the remains of the ancient Shu culture, which dates back to 4800 to 2600 years ago, and is considered to be one of the greatest archaeological discoveries in the 20th century.

The discovery of the Sanxingdui site and its cultural relics is a strong proof of the existence of the ancient Shu State and the pluralism of the origin of Chinese civilization.

In fact, as a cultural site, Sanxingdui had come into the notice of archaeologists in as early as the 1930s, and explorations were made correspondingly.

It all began when a farmer called Yan Daocheng accidentally dug out a number of jade objects in deepening an irrigation ditch in the spring of 1929.

In the summer of 1986， two large-scale sacrificial pits were discovered at Sanxingdui, dating back to the Shang dynasty. Thousands of rare treasures wereunearthed and made quite a stir.

Among these treasures, there are large numbers of bronze and gold wares.

The unearthed objects are unique in shape and superior in techniques，which confirmed the extraordinary creativity of the ancient Shu people and their desires to connect with the heaven and understand the universe.

When our eyes are caught by the traces of the ancient Shu ancestors，it is an encounter with a civilization lost for 3000 years.
