As of November 16, 2022, "THE BIG DRAW ‒ Ar[t]chaeology: Convergence of Art with Sanxingdui" Achievement Exhibition of Sanxingdui Ruins-Themed Artistic Event was held in Sichuan’s Sanxingdui Museum.
Organized by Sichuan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, Deyang Municipal People's Government, Sichuan Provincial Cultural Heritage Administration, Hong Kong Trade Development Council, hosted by Sichuan Culture and Tourism Publicity Information Center, Sichuan Art Research Institute and Sanxingdui Museum and supported by Sichuan Archaeological Research Institute and Deyang Culture, Radio, Film and Tourism Bureau, the international themed artistic event has attracted 33 renowned artists from 22 countries and regions and nearly 2,000 authors from over 80 schools and universities to participate since its launch in June this year.
At the event, four award-winning authors shared their creative ideas about the Sanxingdui. Mane from India expressed that he was shocked when he first saw Sanxingdui in 2021 and hoped to interpret the dialogue between two ancient civilizations in China and India through his work. Lukas from Sweden said, “our country also has ‘sacred trees’ with the history of thousands of years, and among the Sanxingdui relics I like the bronze sacred trees most. So I want to use Chinese prints to present the Sanxingdui sacred trees in my mind”. The idea of Wang Yin's work comes from the legend of "the king of Shu civilization watching the witchcraft rites".11-year-old Jiang Boya used her brush to depict the foreign visitors' amazement and admiration for Sanxingdui relics and to express her exploration and curiosity about the unsolved mysteries of ancient Shu civilization.
During the event, Armen Gevorgyan, a guest artist from Armenia, said that "Standing in front of the huge bronze sacred tree at the Sanxingdui Museum, I tried to reproduce the thoughts and feelings of the ancients through painting."
He added that, “It is through the artists' brushes that the "THE BIG DRAW ‒ Ar[t]chaeology: Convergence of Art with Sanxingdui" International Themed Artistic Event crosses time and space, completing the dialogue between modern and ancient art.”
